Dr. Jelica Gvozdanović-Varga, Principal Research Fellow. She has been employed at the Institute since 1986, when she was appointed for research trainee for vegetable breeding. She received her MSc degree in 1997 and her PhD degree in 2005 on Genetics and Plant Breeding. In 2011 she was appointed for Senior Research Associate. Her field of research and technical work are genetics, breeding (Alliacae sp. – bulbs and since 1997 Cucurbitace sp. – watermelons) seed production and vegetable cultivation technology. She is a national coordinator for Allium species within ECP/GR Working group on Allium since 2001. She participated in 6 international and more than 16 national projects, where she coordinated 6 of them. Until today, she has published over 230 research and technical papers from different fields of Vegetable Crops. She authored five cultivars of vegetables in Serbia and two abroad.
