Laboratory started testing seed quality in 1945 and became ISTA (International Seed Testing Association) member.

In 1999 Laboratory disintegrated from the Institute becoming an independent organization “National Seed Testing Laboratory”.

Laboratory, with all of its technique, technology and employees became once again an organizational unit of Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad on November 3, 2008 becoming Seed Testing Laboratory.
