Soil and Agroecology Laboratory

Soil and Agroecology Laboratory offers basic research, expert services and analyses to all interested customers. Laboratory performs basic and complex analyses of:

  • soil
  • pesticides (chromatography)
  • fertilizers
  • plant materials
  • irrigation water


Laboratory is accredited by ATS (Serbian Accreditation Body) according to the standard SRPS ISO/IEC 17025:2006, certificate number 01-003.

Laboratory is certified by the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management to conduct the following analyses: soil physical and chemical features, hazardous and harmful materials in soil, elementary composition and physiological features of plant materials, physical-chemical analyses and biological value of fertilizers, chemical analyses of water, physical and chemical features of pesticides and pesticide residues in soil, water, plant material and foodstuffs. 

Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops has implemented Quality Management System according to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 (BSI № FM57423) and Environmental Management System according to EMS ISO 14001 (BSI № 72243) in all departments and processes of the Institute.

Laboratory is fully equipped for field sampling with 5 field vehicles, sampling equipment (Eijkelkamp Dutch drill) and pocket GPS receivers. 
Serbian standards are adhered to when conducting analyses, in addition to contemporary documented methods and methods of international and domestic associations, such as:

  • ISO (International Organization for Standardization),
  • AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemists),
  • USEPA Test Methods (US Environmental Protection Agency),
  • CIPAC (Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council).

Laboratory owns standard analytical substances and uses BCR referent materials (European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements) for accuracy and precision checks.
Laboratory is continually engaged in national and international interlaboratory tests.
