Representatives of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops Dr. Sanja Vasiljević, Assistant Director for Science, Ivan Dobrenov and Predrag Matić visited Xi’an (China) in period 02-06 June 2017, for the purposes of the third International Fair “Silk Road 2017”, where Serbia was special guest and partner country.
The fair was opened on Saturday 03 June 2017 by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia – Rasim Ljajić, and Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China – Wang Yang.
Considering that cities Kragujevac and Xi’an are sister cities, the opening and the setting of the exhibition pavilion was attended also by the Mayor of Kragujevac, Radomir Nikolić and his associates, as well as a number of private entrepreneurs in the field of agriculture, processing of agricultural products, as well as renewable energy sources from the surroundings of Kragujevac.
Bilateral meeting between Chinese and Serbian partners was held on the following day, Sunday 04 June 2017 at the Hilton hotel (“Serbia – China (Shaanxi) Trading Investment and Tourism Cooperation Meeting”). The event was greeted by the Minister Rasim Ljajić, Mayor of Kragujevac Radomir Nikolić, and senior officials of the Shaanxi Province, which counts 100 million citizens, with Xi`an as capital.
In the second part of the meeting, several interesting presentations were held (1. “Why Investment in Serbia” – Ms. Olivera Ćurčin Andjelić, 2. “Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops on the New Silk Roads” – Ms. Sanja Vasiljević and 3. “Challenges for Impamil Baby Food” – Ms. Radmila Bućan), which were followed by a business meeting with the colleagues from Northwest University A&F from Yangling, and representatives of Aerospace Logistic Company from Beijing.
„Be to be“ meetings with companies interested in our field of activity were held twice during the fair, during which Ivan Dobrenov and Predrag Matić distributed promotional films about the Institute with e-catalogues and gave detailed information about Institute’s commercial offer.
At the same time, several meetings with representatives of Shaanxi province were held, initially with Ms. Yao Hongjuan, Director General of Shaanxi Foreign Affairs, as well as with potential Chinese partners interested in investing in agriculture and release of our cultivars and hybrids in China, working together and potential commercial cooperation on liquid bio-fertilizers.
