A meeting within bilateral programme “Pavle Savić”, and project “Approaches to agronomic evaluation and molecular characterisation of local maize germplasm for the benefit of hybrid era” (DIVERZEATY) between the Republic of Serbia and the French Republic was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops. The project holders are the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops and the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA). On that occasion, Dr. Brigitte Gouesnard and Dr. Anne Zanetto from Montpellier visited the Institute.
Thereupon, a meeting on expanding cooperation between the two institutes was held at Maize Department. The subject of the meeting was focused in the field of breeding, genetic resources and biotechnology of maize, as well as on preparations for a joint participation in future projects of the European Union.
Later, French colleagues visited laboratories of Biotechnology Department, the collection of wild sunflowers at Oil Crops Department and Forage Crops Department.
Dr. Brigitte Gouesnard, head of maize research team in Montpellier presented genetic resources network in France INRA-PROMAIS and European project on genetic resources RESGEN88, while Dr. Anne Zanetto gave a presentation on the organization and management of the French national maize gene bank in Montpellier.
Two more mutual visits are planned during the second and final year of the bilateral project.
