The Danube Soya Association and Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops Novi Sad organised Field Day “Danube Soya” on 3 September 2014. The Danube Soya Association was established as independent, international and non-profit organisation with headquarters in Vienna. The main objective of this association is promotion of non-GMO soybean in Danube region, of which Serbia with 170,000 ha occupies the central place.
Attendees were firstly greeted by the director of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Dr. Jegor Miladinović, who expressed hope for further cooperation among all interested producers, as well as among representatives of the Institute and Danube Soya Association.
Field Day was opened by the president of Danube Soya Association, Mr Matthias Krön, who stated that the main objective of the Association was to connect soybean producers with users and end consumers of this crop. Also, he proudly pointed out that Danube Soya Association exists for three years, so that this year is a foundation year of the Novi Sad office, and its activities will include region of Serbia.
Dr. Vuk Đorđević, from the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, presented cultivar and agro-technical experiments on soybean to all interested visitors at demo field of the Institute, at Rimski Šančevi (Čenej). Herbicide efficiency in the production of non-GMO soybean was demonstrated by Dr. Goran Malidža at the experimental field.
